Update.... finally.

Thursday, July 26, 2012

I have gained 6 pounds in the last month and a half.

However, most of it was gained early on, so that's comforting. My workout goals have changed along with many other things. I still want to get down to that goal weight, but that will have to wait because now I need to work on maintaining and gaining weight at a safe level...

because we're pregnant.

I've actually known since about a week and a half to two weeks after we got back from Ireland.

Yep, it's a honeymoon baby, most likely conceived within 1-3 days after we got married.

So, that's one reason I haven't been online as much. And when I am online, I've been pinning baby stuff on Pinterest or hanging out at Sparkpeople's pregnancy & parenting website, Babyfit.

My trainer and I are still working together, but like I said, we are putting off the weight loss goals until after the baby is born. Right now our goals are to strengthen me for mom duties and to keep me from gaining too much weight back too fast. He helps keep me accountable, because let me tell you at the beginning of last month, after we got back, I couldn't figure out why I kept eating and craving vanilla ice cream and chocolate all the time. (no pickles, though)

Most people don't gain anything the first trimester, or even lose weight (thanks to nausea and other unwelcome symptoms, but I gained. You're only supposed to gain at most 4 or 5 pounds in the first trimester, so I'm worried that I gained 6 so fast, but I'm holding steady now and trying to keep my cravings under control. I actually start to feel queasy if I eat less healthy foods, but if I eat things like fruits and veggies or lean meats, I think that's what keeps me from having the morning sickness that others get in spades. My jeans are a little more snug, but I've managed to stay in my size 12's. I can't guarantee that I will keep that up for long though, but I want to make it through the first trimester without gaining any more unneccessary or unhealthy weight.

I'm actually at 7 weeks now. I've been to the dr.'s office twice now, but haven't met the doc yet. I meet him next Tuesday. I also *fingers crossed* might get to hear my baby's heart beat for the first time, and I think this is the visit where they determine or rule out the number of babies. I won't lie - part of me wants twins. But we shall see.

Anyway, I thought it was time to share the news. I still have to put up honeymoon pictures and wedding photos... sorry I have taken so long!
