Sparkpeople is stronger than the voice in my head!

I woke up a little stiff this morning. My back and legs were definitely feeling my two workouts from yesterday, ARC Trainer and weights in the morning, and then Zumba after work. One little voice piped up that I had worked very hard yesterday and my body needed to rest. It tried very hard to make a case for itself. I could relax and get some things done around the house before work, it said. I didn’t need to go to the gym this morning, it said. But then I remembered reading some of my fellow SparkPeople’s blogs about running yesterday. I remembered being super impressed with CINERCIA’s training blogs. I remembered being so inspired by KARVY09’s Couch 2 5K story, and how it made me to get back to running on a regular basis. That it doesn’t matter how slow I run, it matters that I’m RUNNING. I remembered laughing in appreciation of the quote on KATEINMICHIGAN’s Sparkpage – “WE will wear SPANDEX WITH EMBLEMS, not Sweatshirts with APPLIQUES!” I remembered LENLEN3, doing her best to stay Sparked even at Disney. I remembered my real-life friend, JESSALOU7, who first referred me to Sparkpeople and has also Sparked her husband and other friends to start running. I remembered GOLOPTIOUS and her Yoda, and that I wouldn’t have even gotten a membership to my local Gold’s Gym without her enthusiasm.
And I got up, I put on my spandex with an emblem, I went to the gym, and did 45 minutes on the treadmill. (Rolling Hills setting, tried to maintain 4.5 mph as my speed as much as possible, although I couldn’t do it on the 2.0 and 3.0 incline. YET!)
How could I let all my SparkFriends down? I really feel that your support and encouragement has helped me make going to the gym a positive habit, rather than a necessary chore. I actually feel disappointed on days when I can’t get to the gym. It’s a far, far cry from the girl who drowned her sorrows in a bag of Oreos and World of Warcraft every night.
So thanks for getting me to the gym another day, SparkFriends. You’re all a very important part of this new healthy way of life.
