If we are honest with ourselves, there are people we really don’t want to be around. There are some who are loud and obnoxious. There are some who are chatty and nosey. There are some who are pushy and overbearing. As much as we may not like their demeanor, we have to remember they are children of God. Fearing them or not wanting to be around them does not give us opportunities to be a godly example to them. We should not fear others but trust God to keep us safe. When we do this, we can open our hearts and minds and allow God to help us be a witness to them.
Fear brings safety. Proverbs 29:25 “Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, we know there will be opportunities today where we will be with someone we are not comfortable with for whatever reason. There will be people who want us to get upset or may even want to harm us. Help us not to fear them but to completely trust in You in our encounters with all people and look for ways to honor You in our conversations with them. Help us to be an godly example to all people, no matter how we may feel about them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
