Dear Spark Buddies:
You know how you can read something over and over and it may not register, until one day you see it, really see it? It's kind of like reading the Bible. there are passages I know I have read lots of times, but they just didn't register with me and then one day, there they are like I had never seen it before.
Well, today I got the usual spark email, which I always read. I know I have probably seen this a hundred times in my time here, but I don't know that it ever registered before. I believe this is called an epiphany (yep there is a ten dollar word for you!!)!!
This particular spark email was the "Best of Spark People Daily" and was entitled "3 Reasons Why You're Not Losing Weight."
This is the part that just jumped off the page at me, which I am sure isn't such a big deal to anyone else, but just in case, I wanted to share:
"Weight loss seems so simple on the surface: Eat less than you burn and your body will drop pounds. But for many people, there's more to the equation than counting calories in and calories out. We are all an experiment of one; you cannot compare your results to someone else's, just as you can't expect to have the same results as another person, no matter how similar you may seem to be."
Because all I hear from people when I discuss this with them is calories in calories out calories in calories out, this was a realization that this is what is going on with me. I'm doing everything I know that I have learned here, but it's not working as well for me as it does for others who are doing the same thing. Well it appears that it's more than just calories in and calories out! (light bulb moment)!!!!
It also depends on what meds you take, like antidepressants (which I take) tend to make it harder for you to lose (I didn't know that!!!), meds for diabetes and diabetes can also make it harder to lose weight (Yep me me me! That's me too).
Well now, this just really made my day to know that I'm not just cheating, (As my ex husband suggested and those in the church I used to go to suggested) because I knew I wasn't. I knew I was exercising and adding to my exercise and changing it up as I've been taught her to do. Nope, it's other things in the equation that make me a unique and different person and my body is not going to respond as other people's bodies do!!!
Yeah, that just really gave me ore motivation and made me feel just a little less discouraged! Thanks Sparkpeople! And also thanks to those that love me here and encourage always. The people here at spark people are AWESOME!!!!
