Day 1 behind me

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

I did a whole lot of nothing yesterday, as far as being productive is concerned. My daughter, Maddie, had a little birthday money to spend so wanting to get out of the house for a little bit we went to Walmart and target to spend it. Being 3 she had a hard time understanding that we were actually using her money to buy her gift. My husband and I have this strategy we use when we are in a store or anyplace where the kids see something they want to have, we tell them to put it on their "list." Of course its a mental list, but we remind them that when their birthday or a gift giving holiday comes around people want to know what to get them, so we say "put it on your list" when they ask for something when we are out. So now instead of constantly asking for us to buy them a toy (or whatever) when we are shopping, they say "can you put that on my list," and we say yes. This works for several reasons, it gives them the fantasy that one day they will have it, and they also know when we go shopping they are not taking something home (unlike my sister who buys her kids stuff anytime they enter a store). I dont want spoiled kids and I cant afford to do it anyway!

So we are shopping to spend her money and she just keeps saying "want that on my list," When I picked the item up and put it in the cart, she was totally confused. She chose a "My little pony" canterlot castle it is huge with tons of tiny pieces (yay!), and a hexo bug (which she always plays with at my sisters house. By the time we were done shopping it was time to come home and make lunch, then we spent the rest of the day both in and outside since its so hot out.

I made clean food choices. But for me the first day is always the easiest since my body is so stuffed from the weekend, it didnt really get hungry. Things get hard around day 3-4 for me, and continue through 2 weeks. Then the ravenous tapers a bit, I am looking forward to that.
Getting a late start again. I am forcing myself to sleep in, taking a full week off exercise to concentrate on food choices and clear thinking. Then next Monday, exercise routine will begin again. Hope all have a wonderful day! Im still squinting unable to see color....but starting to see the out line of objects I am running into.
