This year I decided I needed to work on my consistency. I found a site called HabitForge that helps keep you accountable. I get an email every day to see if I have done the thing I planned to do. The thing I chose was "exercise 30 minutes daily"
Now, 30 minutes is a small amount, but I have a tendency to do too much followed by too little (ie nothing). So this was a good choice for me.
To date, I have gone 171 days consistently of "working out every day". Many days were more than the 30 minute goal. Usually an hour, sometimes 2, like a long bike or the like.
But on the days that I felt like I couldn't do anything, I have managed a 30 minute walk, or slow bike on the stationary bike. This kept me going through a sprained ankle in April (30 minutes hobbling on crutches or riding the stationary), through busy call nights (walk the halls when able and finish up the 30 minutes with jumping jacks before bed). You see, if you miss a day, the clock resets to DAY 1! I did that a couple times, after 10, 15, and 21 days. Now that I am over 100, I really don't want to go back to 1 again!
