Soon to be a family of three!

Monday, July 16, 2012

I can't believe how long it's been since I've been active on SparkPeople! I was once obsessed with the site and with working out. A friend of mine convinced me to join Facebook and I was probably the last person in the free world to do so. That sucked up so much of my computer time that I let Spark slide. :o(

In January of this year my husband and I found out that we're expecting our first child -- a girl! She's due September 15th, only about two months away. My pregnancy has been really good so far. In the beginning I had nausea everyday for about six weeks, usually in the evening. Then I figured out that I had to eat small snacks throughout the day to keep the nausea away. I was experiencing some reflux at the end of the first trimester which exploded in the second trimester. Tums became my best friend and I declared a trial separation from orange juice and tomatoes!

Now it's the third trimester and I'm still feeling okay. My back aches after sitting or standing for too long and I can't remember the last time I slept through the night without getting up to go to the bathroom. Hahahaha. My weight gain has been steady -- so far I've only gained 22lbs and I'm 31 weeks. All my prenatal tests and scans have come back fine. My husband and I are very excited. We just need to decide on a name. Who knew that'd be so hard?

More updates to come!

You may be uncomfortable right now, but soon you will see that it's all been worth it. Soon you'll be holding your baby in your arms

Congratulations to you and hubby - such exciting news!! I'm a mum of 3 and for fitness/recovery I highly recommend walking - it's low impact and can be really effective. I wish I'd started exercising before having Philippa (our eldest) 5 and a half years ago.

Wishing you all the very best for these next few exciting months

CONGRATS!! Choosing a name can be so difficult because this is something your child will have for the rest of her life....no pressure though emoticon Here's a hint I wish my husband and I had thought of: google the name(s) you like the most. I absolutely love our daughter's name and think it fits her perfectly but I may have thought twice if I had actually googled it before hand. Her name is Ariel (pronounced Ari -L not Aeri-L) and when she was born my husband went on-line in the hospital to buy some stuff with her name on it. He googled Ariel and guess what popped up - The Little Mermaid! We hadn't even thought about that! So many people have trouble pronouncing her name correctly but that's the price to pay when you share a name with a Disney princess. The upside is she has some adorable books from the Little Mermaid!

Congrats again to you and your husband and I hope the rest of your pregnancy is as smooth as the first part.

Congrats from a momma of two lovely but active kiddos. Try to take care of yourself in these last few weeks because you won't have time for yourself for at least 6 months. Also, I would highly recommend talking with your doc about getting moving as soon as possible. After my first, I would put him in the Ergo Carrier and walk the track at the gym (it was the dog days of summer). I recovered very fast and lost baby fat pretty quickly. With my 2nd I had a c-section so recovery took longer and a year later, I am still battling post baby weight. Lesson learned - the faster you get up and get moving, the faster your body will come back. Best of luck momma.

Congratulations, soon-to-be Momma! Very excited for you and your hubby! I am glad you are having a happy pregnancy. Good luck choosing a name! I was relieved when my husband and I found out we were having a boy since we already had a boy name chosen. A girl name would have been MUCH tougher! Enjoy the home stretch!
