We're disgusting walking heart-attacks and also we eat people.

Head over to MDA and check out this article about what terrible people we are for suggesting that humans should eat meat: www.marksdailyapple.com/

Seriously. I wrote them a book.

This garbage makes me angry. The attacks are based on only one Paleo resource, they're unresearched, and they're based on tenuous evidence at best.

Also there's a $50 gift card in it for the person who writes the best comeback on the MDA comment section. I couldn't even summon up the wit to be funny. I just wrote the great American novel on it and let it be.

I guess it finally got through moderation...? I had about nine links embedded in there.

Damn, girl, you weren't kidding about writing a book! It's a great response, though - well done, you! (...assuming you are the person posting as "Kristina" over there?)

EXACTLY MY POINT. I'm so tired of the paleo people who say everyone MUST eat paleo, or all the vegans who say we must ALL be vegan, and all the other absolutism. You MUST eat grains, you MUST eat dairy, you MUST eat meat, you MUST NOT eat grains, you MUST NOT eat dairy, you MUST NOT eat meat. Yeah, there are super-healthy hunter-gatherer societies out there, but guess what? There are vegan and vegetarian societies too that are healthy. Just do what feels right and what makes YOU the healthiest YOU can be, not what someone else SAYS should feel right and what someone SAYS is healthy. It's not a contest for heaven's sake. Food should make you healthy. Paleo food makes ME healthy, and I refuse to guilt someone into eating Paleo in order to advance it.

I WILL, however, try my damnedest to guilt people OUT OF eating processed food... it's not working on my mother yet, but I do what I can.

Edit: This just became a blog.

I read that article earlier this afternoon while eating some leftover steak with beets and roasted summer squash. Guess I missed the memo about people eating, lol. I totes chuckled at the paleo double-agent comment, too. :)

Most babies are fed soy formula and cream-of-wheat, and they come coated in diaper cream. Definitely not Paleo. The fact that they're individually wrapped in Huggies makes them unsustainable environmentally, too, so I'll pass on babies.

I take it as a win that paleo is gaining enough success that detractors feel the need to attack it. But really? Now babies are a part of a traditional paleo diet?

I've read so many funnier comments than mine, though... Like the Paleo double-agent. Check out that one.

Apparently mine is so long it's still awaiting moderation, and my second comment is floating around in middle-ground land.

you know, we don't even have to hone our hunting skills. The herd is already quite weakened.

Oh, I read that MacDougall article and really thought at first it was a link to the Onion!!! But, seriously, the paleo crowd does seem to have its share of uncivilized jerks. But, so far, I don't know anybody who is actually eating other people. That would be so un-paleo, since most people are grain-fed. Yuk! Think of all the omega 6!!
