Keeping it Short (with some bonus kitteh power)

Sunday, July 15, 2012

Hi SparkFriends!

How's your summer? It's passing quickly here. Looking back, I can see that we've been up to a lot.

In short:

Patrick completed his MBA and is on the job hunt
Work is... well, I'm keeping my eyes open, too.
Mom's visit came and went. We had a great time.
Patrick and I visited Seattle and Portland and ate our weight in seafood.

(Yes, we even saw the 'fish toss' at the Pike Street Market.)

I rode in the MS-150. I've done this event a number of times (I've lost count) and this year was the worst. 90+ degrees and 20+ mph winds in the face. Even the veteran riders (20 events or more) agreed it was the worst. Now, after the devastating floods in that area, I wonder what next year's event will be like?

My fitness goals are still beyond my grasp, though. I'm experiencing arthritis flare ups in my hands and feet, and that right knee never really feels 'good.' Gaining weight hasn't helped, either. Thanks to encouragement from TAMIHUNT and MNGIRLIE, I'm going to consult a trainer this week and receive a BodPod analysis.

If you haven't seen all the info that comes out of this, you might check out MNGIRLIE's blog. It's pretty impressive!

I also finished knitting a vest. It's too darn hot for a modeled shot, but I'm certain it will see a lot of wear. Just trust me.

I've saved the biggest news for the end. As you might recall, we had an empty spot in our family. ShadowDancer/Moose has been pretty lonely and let us know that it was the right time to seek a new friend.

We haven't finalized a name yet, but the front runner is "Rascal." She was such a cuddle-purr monster in our favorite pet supply store (Urbanimal, for the local SparkFriends)... and she turned into Indiana Jones when we got her home. OMG, everything is either a toy, a game or a snack. Should you be in the neighborhood and wish to stop by, please know that we are now a "Jewelry-Free Zone," LOL!

Suffice to say, I haven't tried to knit around her. It may be a few weeks. And it's hard to tell, but I think Moose is a happier kitty:

Stay cool and hydrated, SparkFriends, and enjoy your weekend!

You have had a busy summer. I love seafood so that part really had me drooling. I wish we had access to fresh seafood.

The weather here has been horrible this summer. Every day has been like August.

I'm having a flare up as well - in every way. I feel terrible. I hope we both put this behind us soon.

I would love to do the Bodpod too but wonder if I could do it with my claustrophobia. I want to hear the results.

The thought of winter clothes right now frightens me. I wanted long springs and long falls and got nonstop summer.

Rascal is so cute and I love that name. It is one of my favorite names. This should keep Moose busy. LOL.

Woohoo!! You might just have to post a bodpod blog. :) I hope you're happy with the place and that it gives you the information that you're looking for!

A huge congrats to Patrick for the MBA! Hope your search is also short lived!

Enjoy that new vest of yours in the cool AC! :)

:) She is a little cutie!!! Happy to hear there is a new little furball to love! I remember those days with Claude, & Leo... everything was game and there was no end the exploration, which of course was fun to watch.

Thanks for sharing the info on the bodpod. I will be looking into it once I get all the research done that I need before my biopsy. I am finding a huge connection in gluten and what it does to the body and for me the Hashimoto's disease doesn't help with the Haglunds deformity and gluten will increase the pain. I will let you know what happens when I switch my diet around as well. Hmmmm, just realized its an "H" thing... Hashimoto's/Haglunds. Now I just need to add better "H" words to the mix.

Please let us know how things go with the evaluation. Happy for you Trish!!! Hugs!!!!

You guys have certainly been busy. I'm a dog person, but the new kitty is adorable.

I know you're happy that the vest is complete. I still haven't taken my sweater class, but it's still on my agenda. I would like to be a lot smaller so I don't have to knit an XXL one.

I'm not sure what a BodPod analysis is, but I'm going to check it out once I'm done typing.

Enjoy the rest of the summer!
