Exercise Buddies

Saturday, July 14, 2012

The past two weeks I have been out of town and thrilled to have a lot of walking buddies. Mostly it has been my Mom and that’s given us some daily time to chat, which has been very nice. I’ve also had the opportunity to take walks with my Dad and my sister. I’ve enjoyed the change in routine and partners. Mostly it’s nice to exercise and visit with each one of them.
At home, I take most of my walks alone now. In the past I’ve had different walking partners. Sometimes, I walk with my hubby. Occasionally I walk with my daughter or son, when they are inspired to join me. I treasure those walks and the talks we share.
When I walk alone, I always bring my accompaniment – my MP3 player. When I first got my MP3 player, I always listened to music. Then I discovered audiobooks, so I loaded some on there. I like listening to the audios…I look forward to walking the next day and listening to the next part of the story!
What do you listen to while you walk? If you are listening to audiobooks, which site do you find them on?

Walking in nature sounds wonderful! I usually need something (a tune, an audiobook, a buddy) to keep me going if it's a long walk. I love walking to clear my mind and just think. Hubby and I usually walk on the's so peaceful. I love just walking, enjoying nature, enjoying each other and our thoughts.

I walk on a wooded backroad, so prefer to listen to nature. I also don't want to be surprised by any "wildlife!" I love walking with DH, DD#1 or any of my grandchildren and I always take Rosie, my big dog.

I do mix it up too. Once I got to a slow part in a audiobook and I needed a little kick, so I switched back to music for the last 10 min of my walk. I usually listen to music at the beginning of the walk then settle in a little bit with the audiobook.

I prefer my playlist of music when I walk. That way I am fluctuating my speed with the beat of the music.

It never occurred to mee to put audio books on my player. Think I will have to give it a try. Thank you for the suggestion.
