Photos of us eating. Why?

Monday, July 09, 2012

Whenever I see stories of massive weightloss, I feel like they are always accompanied by photos of people eating. Granted, to get to the weight we have all been overeaters. At some point there has probably been a photo of us eating food, but seriously? Seriously?

I feel like most photos I see of overweight people (often on this site as well) shows them that's all we do. Eat. Last time I checked, I do other things too--like go to shows, conventions, dance, hang out with friends in noneating environments. And I know for a fact other people do a wide variety of these things as well.

It just frustrates me. I don't know, maybe seeing a picture of ourselves stuffing our faces is what we need to jump start getting healthier, but, last time I checked, I saw a photo of me with my family, a picture of me at my sister's wedding, a photo of me at a dancing class. All of those did the exact same thing--make me realize that "holy crap, I need to fix this."

Yes, granted, I know everyone is different. Some people need to picture of them eating to see it, and that's fine. I've debated posting a photo of me eating, seriously debated it.

My question is, though, why do we do that?
