The Day After the 5K MY Way

Saturday, July 07, 2012

Since I walked the 5K yesterday emoticon (70 minutes in case you missed my blog), and today would be a day of rest, I haven't been worrying too much about exercise today. In fact, I haven't thought about it at all until now when I was doing some Sparking. I think that's interesting in itself, as nothing hurts...my feet and legs are fine, nothing happened to my body to make me think walking that far in the heat was a bad idea, and I feel a little like something is missing from my routine and schedule. No...I'm still pretty positive I won't be training for a 10K--at least not now during the hottest part of the summer with a lot of summer weather left, and honestly I don't plan on ever walking that far at one time. It's so boring! emoticon

So what do I do? Going to a gym isn't an option for me. There is no pool anywhere near where we live. I could ride my bike some, but again, the weather isn't great for that as it has been way too windy. I will probably do more indoor exercise for awhile and pump up my stability ball. (Funny the way we call them stability balls when we're so unstable on them--at least I am.) I can use my little peddler and dance in my kitchen, too. emoticon

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be open to hear them. Since I don't really like exercise (also known as the E word) at all, it has to be something really good to interest me! LOL! emoticon

Congratulations on the 5K, that is an awesome accomplishment and the fact that you aren't sore today is even better! emoticon emoticon

emoticon again on the 5K. You did fantastic. I wonder if all your gardening in life has made a difference in your leg strength?
Hoping the heat is easing there as it did here last night! It certainly has made a big difference.

I don't know if it helps, but I walk the stairs more often and when shopping, i go down each isle at least once sometime a couple times. Keeps me out of the heat that I don't tolerate at all. You are doing great! A little R&R is always good too!
Have a great week ahead, Jeannie. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Jeannie, I'm still in awe that you actually did 70 minutes of walking in the heat. I'm really envious of how good of shape you're in otherwise I think you would have some aches or pains. Maybe in the Fall you'll start preparing for a 10K--never say never as you never know--LOL! When all else fails I will put an exercise DVD on and my favorite is still Anne Burnell's resistance Band one. It's only 30 minutes but is considered a strength exercise which I need so badly. With your E history this is probably too easy for you as it's all down sitting down. Mimi's was great! I think you'd enjoy going there. All our lunches were around $10 each except Noah's was $5. Supposedly they make their own muffins which are awesome although I didn't have one today. They always roast their own turkeys and their Turkey dinner with all the trimmings is $11 but it's worth it and very tasty. Average size portions mostly but everything is fresh--once you sign up for their club they are always e-mailing me good discount coupons. You're probably about ready to hit the "hay"! Have a good night's sleep sweetie.

    Hugs,

    Jill

Jeannie, I have been very faithful for almost 2 months now. I still hurt, so you are very lucky indeed. I am not seeing the results that I thought I would be deeing either. And because of that I really don't like the E word. It was better for awhile but now it feels like my legs are getting weaker instead of stronger. Maybe I am trying to hard. LOL

But girl, I am really proud of you for doing a 5K especially with the heat you have been having. emoticon emoticon

Jeannie, WooHoo!!! 5K and no aches and pains. I'm impressed!! Your training must have paid off. Since I am no fan of the E word either, I don't have any suggestions or recommendations as to what to do. I sometimes ride my recumbent bike, but haven't done that in a while. I know I need to get started again, but just can't seem to make myself do it. Oh well, someday, maybe...lol.
Keep up the great work. Take care!!
    Hugz,

I am impressed, 5K and no additional aches and pains!!!! It sounds like you have done a good job of getting into shape. emoticon I was hurting today just after shopping yesterday.
The E word I don't like. I know that some people say E 3 times a week, well I've found that if I don't do something daily it will fall by the wayside. My PT lady has me doing stretches so I thought today I should incorporate them into my TV watching.

I've been taking my kindle to PT so I listen to a book while she tortures me to help relieve the boredom. I have the cheaper black and white kindle, no bells or whistles. I check books out of the library. So far I have dropped it in the parking lot and part of the back popped off, I popped it back in, this week I sat on it, it still works....

An early morning or late evening stroll with a book might be an option.

Congratulations on the 5K completion and feeling good the next day! Sorry it is so hot there, still. I was thinking surely it would cool off soon, it is so unusual for it to be so hot, so long!
