Big debate with 2 weeks to go before my first sprint triathlon: train hard up to, or scale back and if so, when? Monday I did all 3 events, distance at least what I'd be seeing on race day 7.15. Tues: rest! And took the kids to see "big city" fireworks. 3 hour drive, quality cousin time. Wed, the cousins went sailing, a first for my kiddos. They had fun, and a life experience. Drove home to catch smaller town fireworks. Apparently my digestive system rebelled against either a virus or the road trip food I'd been choosing, so Wed was just ST while watching TV fireworks. Katy Perry wearing the flag: good or bad? I couldn't decide. Seeing service women and men dancing to her song: wonderful! Wed night bouts of chills and dizziness. Maybe more thank junk food upsetting my digestive system? Thurs night, a nerve along my sacral spine was not happy with any movement. Leery of making it worse, feeling strung out from sick, I took it easy. Which brings on Saturday, today. Just an easy bike ride 30 mins. Done. Planned a 30 min run. Ran the first mile,16 min, slightly nauseous. So, I walked the second mile. Glad to put in some exercise time, 8 days to tri. Plan for the rest of the week: easy 30 mins at a time with a couple of rest days.
