You got...bursitis?

Thursday, July 05, 2012

It was a complete surprise to me to get a diagnosis of bursitis in my elbow last week. I thought I'd gotten some strange bug bite because my elbow suddenly got all swollen and black and blue. I did not remember banging it or hurting it in any way....but I've got bursitis all of a sudden and I can't do my aerobics or weight lifting or pilates or... just about anything until it clears up. It's a minor problem,of course, and I'm grateful for that. A reminder to be grateful for normal range of motion!
Another reminder: Last night I watched "Touching the Void" about a disastrous mountain climb in Peru. Talk about determination! It was inspirational to hear about this climber's struggle to get himself out of a life-threatening situation (that his own stupidity had helped get him in to begin with, it's true). A good lesson in never giving up!

p.s. New emoticons!!! I'm so excited!!!

wow, I had just read about it in Spark's Health A-Z yesterday, and now here's someone that has it. It did say it was usually short lived. At least you can still walk/run. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

OH that's not fun. I was just thinking about last year 4th of July weekend when the donut man and I walked 13.1 mile around the lake one day and road our bikes around it the next. He woke up with his elbow all bugging him, like a bug bite. Yup it was Bursiitis. Good news is it does get better. He''s not had any problems with it after it cleared up. Take it easy.
