Virtual Sprint Distance Triathlon: done!

Tri minus 13 days. Today was my last "big" training day. The plan at 6AM was run, hopefully 3.1, settle for 2 if my body says otherwise. Music with MP3 player, frogg togg cooling towel for it's maiden trial. Yogurt before, 1.3 miles with the dog. The cool towel felt great. A little awkward managing headphones and towel. It seemed like my face was surrounded by this cool cloud as I ran. Like water misters on a patio, like the spray from a big waterfall. That kind of cool moisture in the air. Went back by the house to drop the dog off, grabbed an accel gel and water. 1.8 mi on my own to finish. Total time 50 mins. Couldn't believe how OK my legs felt (thank you Friday's massage). Back at home, I tracked the run, realized I could fit in a swim before the kids woke up. So, I did. 30 mins, 18 laps, half mile. Longer swim than the tri; after the drive to and from the pool, less than 30 mins in the water irritates me. Banana while driving home. Back home, kids seemed OK, so I decided to hop on my bike, try out the clip pedals after yesterday's mishaps and adjustments. Plan was 30 mins cycling. Swung back by the house. No screaming kids, no police or firetrucks, no minivan to signal Dad had to come home from work to manage sibling disputes. Kept going. Finished the 12 miles in 60 minutes. That's the race!
Home again, no screaming kids, so I finished with a nice easy ONE MORE MILE of walking. That's also the name of the company that has this shirt. Mine is turquoise, sleeveless, BTW. My legs "hitched" a few times while I was walking, not too surprising with 12 miles bike yesterday and today. All joints stayed in alignment otherwise. I feel good, physically. I feel so incredibly accomplished getting through the entire (virtual) race. I feel thankful for the SP Virtual 5K the end of July to give me my next goal following the tri. Maybe SP should add a virtual sprint tri to their lineup. I know I missed the guidance of Coach Nicole and other SP coaches while I was training for this first tri!
