Is that really me? A blast from Easter past.

I've been doing a lot of cleaning and organizing for our annual July 4 party and came across this picture from Easter 2006. (Excuse the blurriness, I don't have this picture on my computer at home, and took a picture of a picture--which is never very good.)

(Although this picture is from 2006, I looked exactly the same in 2007, 2008 and 2009, before waking up in Dec. of 2009 and making some changes!)

This picture is to show four generations of us, my son is on the left, I am in the middle holding my newborn grandson and my dad is on the right. It was grandson's first Easter, and sadly, Dad's last. He died the following year at the age of 83. But when he was about 65, he lost over 100 lbs. and kept it off until he got sick 8 months before he died, at which point he got even thinner. He is my role model. He used to bike all over the place, 20-30 miles at a time, up into his 70's, and also was very careful about what he ate. After he quit biking for long distances, he still rode around town and worked out on his rower and his stationary bike.

When I look at this picture, it makes me sad. Sad to realize what I did to my body by my bad choices. I am so thankful I finally "saw the light," or should I say saw the Spark?

For comparison here is a picture of me from Easter of 2011, just a few weeks after I hit my goal weight on April 15.

And another picture of me from Easter 2012, still below my goal weight!

I was washing my front door today, and as I often do, made a silent prayer that next year when it's time to clean up for our 4th of July party I am at approximately the same weight and still have the energy I do today. It makes preparations so much easier when you aren't carrying around 180 extra pounds!
