The Fittest Man In Country Music
Thursday, June 28, 2012
I have a confession to make Sparkfriends, I am a country music fan. It's the music I grew up with, it's what my Dad and favorite Aunt play at family gatherings, it's part of who I am. Country music is generally not associated healthy living. At home it's associated with floatin' down the river on a tube, riding a 4-wheeler or Polaris Mule through the woods, or sitting in a tree stand eating crockpots full of sauerkraut and sausage and baked beans with bacon all day long.
So this article was really surprising to me, and I was really encouraged to see someone who has such a huge fan base, a fan base whose other role models include Larry the Cable Guy, espouse a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and a healthy diet. I really hope his fans read it and are encouraged to get up and moving, even if it's only for 10 minutes at a time.
And while I knew Kenny Chesney was in great shape (really hard to miss those biceps!) I didn't know how much work he put into it. And I was especially happy to see him expressing some fitness principles that are in line with SparkPeople's. If you can only do 10 minutes, do 10 minutes. The only workout you regret is the one you don't do. Exercise helps reduce stress. Eat healthy foods, but make allowances for the foods you really *want* to eat too.
So I'm Sparked Up! And going to go home and make a Kenny Chesney playlist for my workout tomorrow. (I'm checking out my local Gold's Gym! More on that tomorrow!)
