Moringa Oleifera - Miracle Tree

Thursday, June 28, 2012

Interesting captioned video on Youtube about the moringa oleifera

Jumped/"ran" 20 minutes yesterday afternoon using the Wii Fit Plus "free Run" program - and kind of on my own did the run/walk thing (didn't have a watch on and got distracted not paying to the on screen timer...)... but did it on my rebounder. Was surprised I basically lasted all 20 minutes running in place on the rebounder (less tiring than on the street). But tonight... I conked out and then woke up 20 minutes later, as if I'd merely had a nap!! Came downstairs to eat a bowl of greek yogurt mixed with beef gelatin and some Bragg's liquid Aminos so maybe the aching in my legs will settle down...

*yawn" 1:15 am, need to get some sleep as the Blood Drive is tomorrow 9:00 am to 1:30 pm at 37th & Rock Road... come by and walk in for blood donation (if you haven't already done so in the previous 52 days or however long it has to be, between whole blood donations.).

I keep forgetting to mention this... but you know how we have all these ads on SparkPeople for the Acacia videos - the samples we can see (Qi Chong, Pilates etc), the discount for their purchases?? Remember the green tree icon they use for their logo? The name "Acacia" is the Spanish language name for the same type of tree, the Moringa Oleifora. Check out the weblink above, under "Costa Rica" "Cuba" (evidently it is known by other Spanish language names in the other countries).

Another website with a somewhat clearer photo of the tree - although it's not been as carefully pruned as how I've seen it in places like DisneyWorld's "Tomorrowland"

but at the bottom of the page, it also mentions other names being "Acacia Blanc" (and I believe "Blanc" means White?

Wow that was an interesting video on Moringa, I'll have to check to see if it is available in our area. I have been learning all I can about holistic and alternative medicine for the illness I live with and I am considering taking Pharmacology to learn all that I possibly can. I have a friend who lives in Enid, Oklahoma who used to harvest herbs and barks from the area for a Pharmaceutical company who is now retired but he may have heard of Moringa. I would love to get a seedling...the climate seems pretty close to ours so growing it might be possible. Thank you for sharing.

That video was very interesting. I'd never heard of that tree before.
