Farewell old friend.....

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

Back in the fall of 2007, Wayne called to tell me that he was adopting an 8 year black boy...

Our black boy, named Buck, came at a point in my life when I was dealing with major depression. I had been out of work since 2004, had become disabled and generally didn't care if I lived or died. Buck's unconditional love gave me a reason to get out of bed every morning and he quickly become the center of our lives!

To some he would be considered just a pet. But to those of us who loved him, he was SO much more!! He was a HUGE part of our family!!

Being the tender hearted person that I am, Buck would pronounce a limp to get me to baby him. At night he would lay his head in my lap, to let me know he was ready to head to bed.

The people that owned him before us - taught him to only bark when someone came to the door. We quickly changed that to let him bark when he wanted - to act like a dog! He was quite a character and soon became Wayne's shadow!

From the moment he came into our lives - he won our hearts. And our hearts are now broken by the huge hole he is leaving behind.....

Farewell old friend....may your eyes be clear, your walk be steady and may you chase bunnies like the good ol' days. I love you and will miss you!!!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear you have lost your Buck. Made me cry as I think back to the day we lost our "Wendy" that cold Jan. evening. We still miss her like crazy and catch ourselves still saying Wendy is gonna love this! May Buck be having a blast chasing the rabbits and perhaps he and Wendy may be doing a little squirrel hunting.

I am so sorry for your loss. A loss leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal. May you find comfort in those loving memories of your time with Buck. He has been yours on loan from God for a long time, although not nearly long enough. He was such a fighter and a great inspiration to you.
What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, you may not understand why he left this earth so soon, or why he left before you were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, you begin to remember not just that he died, but that he lived. And that his life gave you many memories too beautiful to forget!!! He is now smiling, pain free and soaring with the angels on the wind.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Wayne during this difficult time. Think of Buck with a smile as you remember all the love he had to give to everyone and what a blessing it has been to have known him. Praise God that He has a beautiful angel among his many angels who will now watch over you...your very own angel!!!
    Blessings, love and hugs,

I simply hate that we have to lose our pets that we love so darn much. Sounds like Buck was a trooper and a stole a piece of your heart. Cherish the memories! emoticon

Losing our dog panda last year put a huge hole in our hearts. I missed patting her from my chair. Three months later we were ready and adopted two dachshunds from a shelter. They have gladdened our hearts! peanut is about six and so tiny, found walking on the road somewhere. Wally is just now one and I can,t imagine someone giving him up to a shelter. They were there, together for 5months until we were ready. I feel your pain.

The hardest part of loving our faithful friends is having to let them go.
I am so sorry for your loss. Try and think of him waiting for you over the rainbow bridge one day.
