oh no oh no oh no oh no...

I can feel myself just slipping away and off track. I didn't track this weekend, which wasn't too bad, but because I was cramping and feeling bad last week... I kept hearing myself say, I don't care... I don't care...

I DO CARE! I snapped last night and thought - damnit!! YOU ALWAYS DO THIS! You start getting solid results and you let yourself slide once and then twice and then you forget the last time you counted your calories and for what... for empty calories (sodas) or for unnecessary snacking late at night (pretzels and/or popcorn, anyone?!)

I hope I can keep focused this week... I got some stuff last week - sorry about the no blogging - but like I said... I was not myself last week! - and by "stuff" I mean a nu wave oven, a rice steamer and some sushi ingredients.

The nu wave oven wasn't overly awesome for me the first time I used it, but since then I can appreciate popping something in - pressing some buttons and being able to walk away - not having to sit there and move it, stir it, watch it, etc.

When it beeps, sometimes I flip... or stir, what have you - but it's pretty good about cooking things evenly and everything out of there has been cooked to perfection. I'm still working on flavors as it drops so much of the fat and juices down - that I have to decide which things to keep on the grill and which to keep in a dish, etc. But overall, I'm really starting to like it - as it's a heck of a lot faster than the oven (no preheating necessary - goes from frozen to cooked without thawing or defrosting, etc.) and ... being that I'm in a part of the world that gets up to 114 (that's temperature not even the heat index!) - I can appreciate having a cooler kitchen (as opposed to the traditional oven which tends to use more energy and heat up the whole kitchen)!

The sushi experience was fun! :) I made a couple of rolls and had to say for a first try - my sushi rice came out pretty darn good! :) Who knew you had to add just the right amount of rice vinegar, salt, and sugar to the rice to make it glossy and sticky?! :)

I made a couple of rolls for my husband and myself - using cucumber, cream cheese, crab, and avocado... delicious! :) Definitely something I'd be willing to make again! :)

So... last night my husband bbq'd and while admittedly, we don't always bbq the leanest meats (beef ribs and pork ribs last night) - I tried to limit what I ate and concentrated on the grilled onion and grilled portabello mushrooms.

Anyway, hard to believe it's Monday again! My husband's birthday is Wednesday, so here's hoping we have a super fabulous week and that everything goes great on his birthday! I'm not sure what to plan for that night... but got a few of his favorites for him to choose from!

    Believe me I feel your pain, I have not fall from the wagon yet, but I'm just in the edge... I don't want to, I know I can do it, but I just don't know what is happening... I have tons of excuses, but I don't buy my own excuses...

    Having someone to help hold you accountable definitely helps. That nu oven sounds pretty interesting... I may have to look into that myself.

    Can you involve a friend or family member to hold you accountable? Perhaps your husband? I envision this scenario:

    You: "Hubby, I need your help. I am committed to logging my calories EVERY DAY, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Will you help me by following up and encouraging me to accomplish this goal?"

    Hubby: "Sure! You're not getting in bed at night unless you've logged your calories!"
