So in the end I guess I did "reward" myself with food .... but!!!! that wasn't all I did.
I made pizza on Friday and had a couple of beers, the following night I made lower fat seafood Alfredo with a couple of homemade brews a friend brought over. That along with three hikes in the woods (one being 8 mile) I weighed in today and lost one pound! I also made some fantastic realizations. The pizza the "old" way was less than satisfying! It was good but the memory and expectation were greater than the result. I won't be having that craving again for a while. The same thing happened with what was my favorite beer. Not quite as good as I anticipated! Its amazing how my tastes are changing and the high calorie high carb foods no longer have the hold on me the way I thought they once did. That is a great lesson for me. It gives me even more confidence that this is a life change and not a short term effect. I love the new way I cook and enjoy food. I currently can't think of anything I'm craving that is high calorie. Yeah!
I'm not sure I would recommend "cheating" on your diet, but I have to say, I'm glad I gave myself permission to try some of my "old favorites" even though they were not on my current food lists because now, they no longer make me feel that I'm missing something! I honestly don't want them. I think that's great!
