No longer a Coke addict

Sunday, June 24, 2012

It felt like I was going through what a cocaine addict goes through when kicking it, but I can say today, that I am no longer a coke addict. And I did it cold turkey. YAY!

I staffed a summer camp last week. There were two beverage options: water and lemonade. That's it. So whether I wanted to or not, I was cutting Coke cold turkey. It was rough. I was miserable. Three days into camp, I noticed it took a lot longer for the headache to start. By Friday the only thing giving me a headache were the campers being especially loud inside. I went to the grocery store yesterday needing to get drinks for the house. Didn't even go down the soda aisle.

Now, I will confess I had a coke this morning. Nothing seems to cure a hangover quiet like some greasy fried chicken and a coke. And guess what? I barely was able to finish it because of how nasty the coke tasted to me. I'm so incredibly proud of myself.

Good job! Stopping to drink pop is one of the best decisions you can make.

good luck to you I went cold turkey on Dec 31, 1999 and have not touched a coke since.

If you feel the need to ween yourself, get some club soda and milo and make your own just diluting the strength until you are back to plain club soda
