Preparing for My Knee Replacement

Saturday, June 23, 2012

Yesterday I visited the rehab I will probably go to. When I had my LHR 2 1/2 yrs ago, I didn't give my rehab place much thought, assuming that they were all pretty much the same.... WRONG!! BAD experience - I made the doctor let me leave after 3 days. I lived alone at that time and it was a little risky, but I got through with the help of many friends and the VNA.

At the place I visited yesterday, the admissions director talked to me about my lifestyle and my preferences at length. I was surprised when she gave me the feedback that actually would fulfill my needs, without me even really being able to determine what they are!! Wow! I'm looking forward to my time there now... I may actually get a little rest - and my meals delivered to my room! And will stay there as long as I need to...

Hi Deb....glad you found a place you're going to like. My dh was nurse Nancy for a week after my surgery. He should have been a drill sergeant!!!! (actually he still should be!!)

Saw you found me (if you knew it was me that is) on Pinterest....was glad to 'see' you. Isn't it amazing all the things they have on there??

Rehab -- isn't it scary the kinds of places that are out there? So sad also. Sorry you had such a rotten experience the first time, but thank goodness you were able to leave. Glad you were able to find a better rehab facility to recuperate after you have your knee surgery. The admissions director sounds like she is perfect for the position. She knows the questions to ask to make your stay as positive as possible.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
