Life is like a cup of coffee...

Friday, June 22, 2012

I watched THE most wonderful little clip this morning from Simple Truths called, "Life is Like a Cup of Coffee" and wanted to share it with you all.

It only takes 2-3 minutes to watch and is SO worth it!

I've been reading lots lately about losing weight and exercising, and I've been struck with a resounding theme--CHANGE your MIND before anything else! I have to admit that I had allowed the cesspool of negativity to invade my mind, focusing on all the 'problems' instead of ENJOYING life! After reading some of the chapters in the book, I realized how important it was for me to renew my mind. To speak to the 'mountain' of my life and believe that those things that I don't see CAN and WILL happen!

I WANT to find all my good in Jesus! I want His words written on my heart! I want to delight to do His will! I want to be the JOY of His heart! Well, I've been telling Him those words every day!

I WANT to show my husband great kindnesses and dedicate my entire life to him and meeting his needs. I've been saying those words and seeing hope for change!

I WANT to lovingly nurture my children and consistently train and discipline them--again I'm seeing change.

I WANT to diligently and enthusiastically manage my home for God's glory--and He is putting NEW desires in me for organization [the other day I spent 12 hours revamping my kitchen to be more user friendly] and joy in the journey regarding cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. He gave me SUCH joy yesterday and I got lots done in the kitchen: 8 loaves of bread, 9 quarts of yogurt, a pot of spaghetti sauce, Herb Oven baked chicken dinner, cookies for a graduation party, and all with a joyful heart. TOTALLY God!!!!

I WANT to eagerly and thoroughly educate my children at home--and I'm DAILY increasing desire! After doing this for almost 22 years, I DEFINITELY need renewal! ha!

I WANT to eat healthfully and moderately and exercise consistently and faithfully AND desires are increasing!!!!

So here are my 'mantras' [totally God's will for my life] that I'm speaking dozens of times a day:

1. I find all my good in Jesus and long and yearn for the courts of the Lord. I delight to do His will and His words are written on my heart. I am the joy of His heart.

2. I show Dennis great kindnesses. I dedicate my entire life to him and his needs. I'm intoxicatingly devoted to him.

3. I lovingly nurture and consistently train and discipline my children for God's glory.

4. I diligently and enthusiastically manage my home for God's glory.

5. I eagerly and thoroughly educate my children for God's glory.

6. I eat moderately and healthfully. I exercise consistently and faithfully for God's glory.

I'm AMAZED how this is renewing my mind, and how God is giving me desires that had gone out the front door and boy did I miss them! emoticon

Just a few shots of my kiddos to end our time. And some photos that Mary took yesterday. She got her hair cut [I think we cut it a little short, and believe me I have MUCH to learn about cutting girl's hair--I'm used to boys haircuts with the razor! ha!]

Mary had a friend over, and the other little girl is the one I'm tutoring. She is SUCH a sweetheart. They played dress-up, did their nails, and put make up on each other.

Mary's pictures:

My PRECIOUS little Sammy:

Sammy doing the dishes--bless his SWEET heart!

Mama in the kitchen

One of the garden.

She is trying her hand at slanting the camera--a trick from my DEAR friend Terri whom she adores!

Terri is the one with the Marilyn Monroe look! ha! That's another story!!! emoticon

Much love to you all and BLESSINGS on a wonderful weekend! Susan

Dear Susan-- Thank you for spreading your inspiration! If we can put selfishness aside, and strive to do God's holy will, happiness will come. You have given us many thoughts to improve ourselves, and thoughts that will improve our family life also. May we pray for God's will, not our will.
Bless you and your lovely family, Susan!

Love the video! I am a fan of HGTV and I have noticed how many people's problems with their homes is that they have so much STUFF! They need bigger houses and bigger closets and more storage for.......STUFF! Are we really the sum of our possessions? I had little a child, 5 of us lived in a small house with small closets, tiny bathrooms, a small kitchen, yet I don't remember longing for more. When did it start? Unless the fancy cup has a wonderful history where you are drinking from the same vessel as the professor's grandmother, what is the point?

The blessings are in the people we know not the things we have.
