Gonna try and track again

Thursday, June 21, 2012

I'm gonna try to track food again...Any tips to speed up the process greatly appreciated. I shop off brands for many of my foods, and have found many of the member added foods (fitting my description in the search) can be really different then the label on my box of such/such brand of cheese crackers. So I end up creating my own.

Very tedious, that's why I haven't tracked for more then 3 days at a time. So anything tips to speed up the process so I can be successful would be great.

I am going to give it a hardy go and enter in as I get them, but grrrrr.

Once you get your frequently eaten items entered, it will definitely be faster.

If cost is not an issue, you might want to try tracking on Weight Watchers. I find it much faster and easier with more flexibility. It takes a while to learn it, though, and I prefer tracking on paper rather than online.

SparkPeople tracking is better for controling sodium and being aware of other nutrients. I usually am under on fat and over on fiber and sodium when I do Weight Watchers. Guess it depends on how you eat.

Research shows that people who track what they eat lose more weight and maintain better than those who don't, even if they don't count anything. Best wishes for finding what tracking method works for you. -Marsha

I haven't found a fast way to enter my own stuff off the labels. I find that it's just as fast to use the label as it is to find the info online and then enter that. If I find a quick way to do it I'll let you know but here's a couple of thoughts.

Once you enter the info and add the food to your favorites the hard part is over.

The benefit of tracking your food far outweighs the inconvenience of entering the information.

I saw that there is a bar code scanner in my phone version, I have no idea how to use it, but maybe if we can figure that out it would make it easier?

I don't have any tips for you because I am new at this too. I find it really hard to fill in the food and find myself not eating just because I don't feel like logging it(maybe that is a benefit..lol). I figure that maybe I will get faster the more I practice? Anyway, Good luck!
