Back from the Beach

Photo is of Kite Day at Jockey's Ridge State Park in Kitty Hawk, NC. Kite Day is my favorite time to go to the Outer Banks. The weather was beautiful and we saw the Rhythm in Blue Air Force Jazz Band perform there on Sunday. We went with another couple and had a beach house with pool in south Nags Head. We had a great time visiting with old friends. We live in different cities and only get together a couple of times a year.
I had been concerned about getting up and down the stairs in the house, as my knees have been giving me trouble lately. I did very well, up and down the stairs many times a day. By the end of the week, I was doing much better than at the beginning. This just reaffirms my belief that "Motion is lotion" and I need to keep moving. Arthritis just gets worse the longer I sit.
It is a ten hour trip to the Outer Banks from home. We try to stop every two hours, but that is long enough for me to get stiff and I can hardly walk when I first get out of the car! After a few steps, I am able to walk in a normal manner. I need to continue trying to find a balance between exercise and injury. I have three more weeks off before I return to work. I am going to try to continue to build strength and get in regular workouts.
