I would like to thank Hep A

for helping us cut out alcohol from our life!
Japanese men in general drink quite a lot (coming from my conservative upbringing) and my hub used to drink daily (technically Sunday was his rest day.. ha...) It had become a habit. A reward for a hard days work.
But a week and a half ago hub came down with Hep A. I'm fine so it must not be my cooking!!
Anyway, he was pretty bad. Doc said if the numbers on his blood test were just a few higher he would have been hospitalised. But thankfully his last test showed the numbers had dropped dramatically :) Still, the doc said no alcohol, avoid oil and not to go back to work. He's following the suggestions except for the last one - sigh.
It was a *horrible* experience, I shouldn't be thankful he got infected with Hep A - but something good comes out of every life experience, right? It's so nice to have alcohol free nights with my hub! Not that he would get drunk before... I just love the atmosphere now - I guess I was always worrying about his health. I don't know how long this will last. He might get the 'all clear' at his next check up. But I hope this shows him how he doesn't need it and that we can cut down our alcohol intake.
I admit... I have been having the odd 60cal diet beer (350ml) while cooking dinner. But there's no shochuu liquor, no wine.... it seems mean and kind of pointless to sit there at dinner with just me enjoying a glass of red.
The scales are dropping! Finally got that .9 I was hoping for and this moring - .6!! And without much effort -haha not a good thing, but I have been fighting a cold and my CFS was bad so I haven't been doing my pilates or bike riding...
I think I knew all along that alcohol was what was keeping me from my goal. And from being healthier. Now I know for sure! I have some major events coming up in July - I might just make my goal weight by then!!
