Summer is time for gardens and flowers and not wearing heavy clothes. Weeding gardens, mowing lawns, hiking, riding my bicycle, swimming, visiting with friends at barbecues, seeing neighbors when everyone gets outside, birds singing in the yards in the morning, butterflies . . .

Summer is when my desire to be outside and also to make things grow automatically makes me more active without really trying. The majority of my exercise is just part of my every day routine and requires no extra planning or effort on my part. There are fresh fruits and vegetables to tempt my palate and drinking plenty of water is never an issue. Things seem so effortless at this time of year, compared to colder months of being inside and needing to most often specifically plan and schedule exercise.

Great blog. And so true. Although I think I could use a little of your care in my garden. Things just grow and grow and grow out here - weeds, flowers, trees you never planted...... I think it's the rain. However, lots of exercise opportunities for sure!

    Have a wonderful summer!
