One Life (Choose Your Adventure)

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

We are all given this one life and it is up to us what we choose to do with it. There may be some things that happen to us that we do not choose, but we can choose our attitude in dealing with those things and we can choose what steps to take from there.

When I was young I liked to read those "choose your own adventure" books where you could choose where the story goes next and each person reading the book gets a slightly different story. In my life I want to choose my adventure.

In my adventure of losing weight and getting healthier it is the choices I make that will lead to those pounds vanishing! (A play on the book cover photo since that was the one that could most closely apply!)

In my psychology classes I recall learning about the importance of believing that you have the power to make choices to achieve a desired outcome. Somewhere since then I became discouraged and felt like no matter what adventure I chose, I would end up on the same page. I cognitively know the importance of believing I can achieve my goals, and I am fighting to keep that optimism and positive thinking alive and central. Staying positive and believing that I can reach my goals does not come natural for me. Therefore, I intend to keep these thoughts ever before my eyes and flood my spark page with positive, motivational and inspirational quotes.

This entry is really just an expansion of the thought process behind the title of my spark page. When I first created my spark page I knew what I meant by this but it was hard to formulate it into words. Today it just kind of flowed and so I thought I'd put it not only in my blog but also under my spark page title.

Your picture of the book totally caught my attention! I loved reading those when I was young and haven't seen them in I dunno, 20 years! It's true, life is a choose your own adventure. Although you don't get a second chance like with the books!!!!
