Biggest Loser - Week 2, Day 1 Workout

Yet another installment of the Biggest Loser Chronicles! LOL

Last night was the first workout of week 2. (I think 13 weeks total) Thunderstorms were called for, but I wasn't going to let that deter me! Until there is lightning, the workouts are ON! So it was very, very humid. I had just showered and my skin was so sticky and disgusting. (Humidity is NOT my friend you understand!) emoticon

My cousin and my close friend both made it to the workout as well. We were told to bring one gallon bottles of water with us. We met at a local highschool football stadium. Here is how the workout went:

*1 time around the track carrying the gallon of water
*1 time around carrying the water above your head (killer)
*1 time around sidestepping/crossovers whatever - facing the field
*1 time around sidestepping facing away from the field
*1 time around with high knees
*1 time around w/ water gallon (I admit I didn't take my water this time! LOL)

Then it was bleachers! I have a fear of bleachers. #1 they were wet. #2 I have a really bad knee and ankle. #3 I am very uncoordinated! So I modified and used some stairs and did step ups while most others went up and down the bleachers. I did them until most people were done, thinking this would be a fair modification.

After that we did:

* 50 burpees (I cannot physically do a burpee/up-down so I modified taking water bottle above my head and then down to the ground 50 times)
*50 high knees
*100 high knees and then step back (50 each leg)

Another set of bleachers (step ups for me)

*Bicep curls with gallon of water - 50
*Knee lifts with twist (to work abs while standing) - 100

Next we went to a long steel fence with 2 rungs - and she wanted everyone to weave in and out of the rungs. Well this big ol' body was not going to fit comfortably through there - so I followed along in the line and for every weave, I did 2 squats. At the end of the fence we brisk walked back to a big circle.

* LOTS of stretching

*Nutrition talk and question answer period

*Closing devotion and prayers

The whole thing lasted about 2 hours 15 minutes! I was both happy and miserable. It's a very strange combination, I must tell you.

And one of the high points of the evening is when one of the other contestants high-fived me and told me that I inspired HIM! That was a really good feeling emoticon

I am SO sore today. My hips and heels being the worst. But I feel proud of myself - and that feeling is very foreign to me.

This journey is about more than shedding some weight and getting stronger - it's about finishing what I start. It's about being a part of something for the first time without giving up. And that is truly a blessing.
