The Mystery of Weight Loss

Monday, June 11, 2012

I was thrilled when I woke up this morning and got on the scales. Expecting to see a weight gain from the extra ranch dressing I ate yesterday plus the fiber bar which was definitely not on my low carb plan, plus no exercise yesterday... to find I had lost another pound!!!!!!! WooHoo! After all this time, losing weight is still a mystery at times... What with water retention, bowels (i know gross), working out, high carb/low carb, high protein, cheating/not cheating, perception of loss of control, etc... With all these variables...Sometimes I just can't predict what my body will do... Will it release more pounds or hold on? That is the question... Irregardless it seems I lose a pound every 3 to 4 days. I am pleased with this pace and hope it continues... I will be even more thrilled when I wake up having lost a TOTAL of 60 pounds as that is the number of pounds I lost in 2011 and then gained back 35! 15 to go then any weight I lose after that, will be phenomenal since I haven't weighed less than that in 16 years! What a victory that will be! Look Out Clothing Stores! HaHa!

Today I had some me time and ran by CATO. I remember when I couldn't even buy clothes at CATO because I was too big. I had to drive an hour and a half to buy clothes in a specialty store. A lot of the clothes there also seemed not as youthful as I prefer. So I bought a lot of clothes that made me look in my opinion a little frumpy or over dressed. Today at CATO, by habit I was looking for some Capri's in their largest size, size 28. I found some of those. Then I found a style I loved but what? No size 28-only size 24! Hoping for a miracle but seriously doubting I grabbed up the size 24 and headed to try them on. But to my suprise when I put the 24's on, they fit! Shocking and they looked much more slimming than the size 28 or 26! What's even better? THEY WERE ON SALE!!!! YEAH BABY! So I got them and a two new tops on sale and a cute pair of sandals to go with my Capri's . I can see that shopping for clothes could become a problem the more I lose weight...hmm....Can't trade one addiction for another lol! It is just so exciting to buy new smaller clothes! Okay that's all I gotta say! Heading to the YMCA with my kiddo's!

Ps. When I lose the 15 pounds I will take some new pictures and I plan to do a VLOG! It will be a reward I have planned!

It occurred to me when I went to buy smaller clothes a couple weeks ago that it will probably be the last time that I HAVE to go to one of the "specialty stores" to buy my clothes. I completely understand and celebrate with you!

There is so much to be celebrated here, Tasha! You've come a long way, and the progress is revealing itself in your confidence and willingness to explore your new options.

I want pictures of those awesome new pants, and shirts, and sandals, girl! :)

Keep celebrating. Keep shopping. (Even if you don't buy, try on new styles and sizes so you can see what helps to boost your self-image and keep track of any necessary down-sizing in the future. ;) (Yes, I'm an Enabler. I'm Enabling you to shop with a clear conscience!;P) )
