One year ago today I joined Sparkpeople. I was on a quest to find a nutrition plan that would help me knock off the 7 pounds I was SURE I had to lose. I had maintained a 60 pound weight loss for 5 years but had gained the extra pounds since beginning a consistent walking/running program in 2010. Friends said it was "muscle weight", I was determined to lose it anyway.
Sparkpeople and my doctor changed my perception about my appropriate body weight. I devoured the Spark philosophy and community. In doing so I have become physically, mentally, and emotionally rational and reasonable about what food provides, what my body needs, how to exercise appropriately and consistently, and how to be a healthy, active 60 year old.
Mini Moral- I have lost about 3 of the 7 pounds by not focusing on losing weight, but
by focusing on becoming healthy and balanced.
