Why I'm so excited about the new apartments

To make a long story short, skip to the end...
Over the last week, we drove from Fort Worth, Tx up to Portland, Or, drove around for 3 1/2 days looking for an apartment, then drove back to Fort Worth. I'm exhausted. BUT we did find an apartment.
We spent the first 2 days looking for a 2 bedroom for us and a 1 bedroom for Josh's best friend who is moving up a half month after us. I thought it would be fun but doing it for more than a day at a time SUCKS.
We found a 2 bedroom townhouse for us but we were having a hard time finding a 1 bedroom in our friends price range. Monday morning Josh calls him to have their girl talk (they literally talk like teenage girls for an hour straight each day, even on days they see each other. I don't even talk to my mom that much). Josh starts looking really stressed so I asked what was up. Lee's fiance broke up with him over wanting to move. We had all thought she was going to move up in January but she changed her mind and completely went off on him and just ended it. He's already under a lot of stress because he already put in notice at his work and they're treating him like crap. His family is all over him about wanting to move. He hates it here in Texas. Josh is basically his brother and there's no stop to our move. So without even thinking it through (I do this way too often) I said "Lets look for a 3 bedroom." I wanted to pull the words back into my mouth but they were out. Josh was literally bouncing in his seat, Lee was excited, I wanted to puke.
All that day we looked for 3 bedroom apartments. It sucked it sucked IT SUCKED! We found a few we really liked but Lee has a dog and we have a dog and most places won't take 2 dogs out there. Finally we found one but I felt like it would be really cramped with our family and Lee. So Josh had to make the call to tell Lee a 3 bedroom wouldn't work and we were going to go get money for our deposit and sign our apartment contract and go find a different area to find a 1 bedroom for Lee in.
I know Lee and I have had our problems, that there was a time that I felt he and Josh spent way too much time together. We've talked it out and he's pretty much become my brother. And Josh is a completely different non-depressed person when he has either Lee or I with him. But at the same time we're a husband and wife with 2 kids, have been for over 9 years, just the four of us, and Lee would be odd man out. It would be really awkward for me if I was the odd man out. Lee is used to Josh and I being lovey dovey around him, but he also knows I get my way in my house and I'm used to that. I'm the only girl, I watch the kids, I clean the house, I cook the meals, don't mess with me. It would be hard for him to adjust from my viewpoint.
I was thinking I had dodged a bullet but then I started feeling really sad about not having Lee with us and him being across town far away from his work and the possibility of him being stuck in Texas.
We were about to pull into the grocery store parking lot to get a money order when I saw some apartments hidden away across the street. I randomly looked them up on my phone and found they had 3 bedroom apartments. It was worth a try.

We took a tour and found out their three bedroom has two completely different sides to it. One side has a master bedroom and a smaller bedroom. The other side has another master bedroom. Basically we would be sharing a kitchen and living room and porch.
Then we take a look around the grounds. There's a heated pool, the apartments are hidden away between trees and grass and trees and grass and tons of playroom for the boys without cars in and out all day.
Then we get to the fitness center. 2 STORIES! Yes, it's huge!!!!! And the best part of it, a yoga room with a tv and dvd player in it... aka my new dance room. And she said I could use it with friends or rent it for 30$ for an hour and teach a dance class in there. As we're walking out the lady who rents the room twice a week to teach zumba was walking in. She said she would love to have me instruct a hip hop class after her zumba class one night and see if we can get two classes going 4 times a week and just charge everyone 5$ a class. And we would alternate so that 2 times a week my class would be first and 2 times a week hers would be first and while I teach, she'll watch our kids and while she teaches, I'll watch the kids. YES! Then she took me outside of the apartments and showed me 2 running trails and a paved trail where I could jog around a little lake each morning.
Plus, right across the street is Safeway so I could walk there every day, get fresh fruit and our daily groceries and then walk home. Plus there's a farmers market that meets once a week about a mile from it that I could easily walk to also.
We only signed a 6 month lease. I can go through anything for 6 months and if it doesn't work out, I'll get a night shift job again and we'll buy out Lees room. I'm just so excited about this. I really think it's going to work out.

The fitness center sounds amazing!! That will be a LOT cooler than your TX garage!!

emoticon that you will get to teach!!! Sounds like a perfect situation, especially working with the lady who is already doing Zumba.

I would love to have grocery that accessible! And I adore farmers markets! It's a little hard for me to get up early enough for some of them... but they are awesome!

You were so smart to go with the 6month lease. I think that is called a roommate floorplan, and hopefully that will make it easier on all of you to have some separated space. I am pretty confident that you will let him know in no uncertain terms if you aren't happy with something! emoticon You go girl! emoticon

I am really excited for you! What a whirlwind.... but honestly... it all sounds really awesome and I think it will work out better than you could imagine.
Best wishes on this next chapter in your life. I think it will help so much for you to leave the Post Office and all that drama behind! The money will work out... maybe it will even be all with the fitness that you really enjoy!

Best wishes, I really look forward to hearing about it all (when you can).

That is a lot for the awesome apartment and I truely hope it works out for you and Josh and Lee all being in the same house. And your right 6 months is a good trial period to see if it all works out. The fitness center sounds like a dream!
