Scripture: Ephesians 3:14-19
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Observation: As I was reading through the selections for today, these verses kind of jumped out at me. First, I saw the work of all three members of the Godhead: God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. Second, the person of GOD really stood out, first as “the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (vs. 14) and then at the end of vs. 16 when it says “that He would grand you . . . to be strengthened with might through HIS SPIRIT in the inner man.” God is the Father, He sends the Son, and He indwells our hearts through JESUS and HIS HOLY SPIRIT. It is the FATHER’S desire for us to know how much HE LOVES US. Verse 18 tells us that He wants us to know the width and length and depth and height of the love of Christ, even though the quantity/quality of that love passes knowledge, is too great for us to know. The end of verse 19 spells it out: God wants us to be FILLED with HIS LOVE to the greatest degree possible, not on our side but on His side.

Application: I need to get it in my mind and spirit that He has already done the work, that He ALREADY loves me, that when I accepted Jesus as my Savior (verse 17), God came to dwell in me and with me. He wants to—and has—strengthened my inner man, my spirit, and I AM filled with all the fullness of GOD. Now, all I have to do is believe it!! It’s a done deal.

Prayer: Father, help me to take in the magnitude of the spiritual exchange that happened on my behalf when I said “YES!” to Jesus Christ. Help me to see plainly the manifestation of YOU in my life and see how You are filling me, changing me, loving me. I want to be conscious of Your Presence with me and in me every second of every minute of every day. Lord, help me to love You as You love me! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

All I know is that He loves me and us and I rest in His love and grace and no harm or fear can come near me because of the measure of faith He has put in me to be able to trust and believe in and rely on His loving me so much that His love casts out all fear and harm in the name of Jesus and we are to stand on His word and promises and love and grace.

I am a warrior of faith because of Him loving me so much.

I wish I could just sit down with you and discuss this portion of Scripture. There's so much in it that we can't possibly begin to expound on it in it's fullness. This is another prayer that Paul prayed that we can pray over ourselves.

Grant - Greek word didomi meaning to give freely and unforced.

According to - to the same measure as or in the same manner consistent with.

Paul is praying that God would give them freely His love in the same manner consistent with His riches in glory; His goodness that never runs out and never suffers lack. It's the same riches that He tells us in Philippians 4:19 that He would use in supplying our needs. When we are grounded in that love and strengthened by His Spirit within us we will be filled with all the fullness of God. In 1 John 4:17, 18 He says that when His love is matured in us that we will have no fear because matured love casts out fear. So when we are matured in the love that Paul is talking about in Ephesians we become bold in our walk with the Lord so that when the enemy comes against us what he meets up with is a bold believer just like Jesus. We look like Him, act like Him, speak like Him and rule in this world like Him. That's the Father's plan for His children; to be filled with His love that overcomes the attacks of the enemy.
