I don't want to be a wimp

Wednesday, June 06, 2012

But my back hurts.

I had a mole removed (wasn't planning on it honestly) on Monday afternoon. It was in a bad place on my back and was getting irritated by my bra straps and my sports bra wasn't helping either. It's been doing this for awhile but on Monday it was causing actual pain.

So it came off.

And now I can't workout like I want to. I've been doing so good. I just finished a 30 minute workout, I can usually do 45-60 minutes. Not today. I'm whipped. My back hurts (again the sports bra is hitting the wound) and I'm honestly really missing the ability to go out and walk.

With my two kids home now everyday for the summer, walking is out except for weekends or if my husband is home early on a weekday. When JJ starts ESY (Extended School Year) in a week and a half, I'll be able to get out with Elliott and start walking again.

I don't like gym equipment enough to work on it every day. I have an elliptical and a stationary bike and I enjoy working out on them but not solely on them.

I want my back to heal. I hate feeling like a wimp!

Don't quit; don't give up or cave in, just do some sort of movement to keep burning the calories. You can do it! God has a comeback for every setback that you experience. He will turn this around for your good if you will cooperate with Him. And you'll soon be back up to speed again!

Thank you my friends!! I so appreciate the encouragement. I never honestly thought it would hurt this badly lol!! I'll be glad when it's all healed up but I'm glad I got it done, it was hurting just as much before!

I'm hoping to go for a walk (if the Colorado weather will cooperate) this evening, then again tomorrow morning. I love having that time to get out and pray, worship and just spend quiet time with myself and with my Heavenly Father.

I do truly miss it but it's not gone, just delayed!!

Darn it when life gets in the way!! You have recieved some mighty fine thoughts and encouragement from the responses here! We continue to go forward; push through the hurdles; learn to be creative in our fitness time; take time to heal and keep focused on the life-long goal of moving and grooving and eating wisely each day!

Even if it looks different right now! You are addicted to exericise my darling!! : )

Every athlete gets injuries, darling. Work around it until it feels better. It's ok for you to slack off for a bit and heal. You don't need permission to do that, but if you do... I give you permission to HEAL and then ATTACK when you get well :) Take care of your body, then your body will appreciate you more for it, I assure you ;) XOXOXO

You're not a wimp! You will heal. You can do simple little things like Susie said. Will miss meeting you on Saturday. Hugs.

I don't have any great ideas for you, unfortunately. I remember when my kids were small and life was a little more crazy than it is now that they are grown. I did not take care of myself back then, and if I could go back in time that is one thing I would change! I know it's not easy, but if there are ways that you can get out with the kids or find times when your husband's home and you can get some form of activity in, you will feel better.
Don't be hard on yourself! You are NOT a WIMP!! You are on a journey and during some periods of time we make more progress than others. I'm sure once your back is healed, and you can get more rest, you'll have more motivation. We're here for you!! emoticon

The fact that you MISS exercise means you are not a wimp. Not irritating your wound worse is worth taking it easy.

Try some push ups against the counter, some crunches, some squats, even just march in place! Little bits until you can do more! Just don't stop altogether! The "all or nothing" mentality is a killer! You'll be back at it full force again before you know it.
Sending hugs your way! Will miss you on Saturday morning. Maybe next time!
