Who does that?!?!

Friday, June 01, 2012

Yesterday I took some stuffed cabbages from the freezer and seeing how large they were decided to weigh one out. It was NEARLY A POUND!!! I was floored!! I had made these with my sisters over the winter, and while blanching the cabbage my sister decided to "help me" by wrapping mine. Over my objections she made them huge!! I want some actual cabbage in there somewhere.

Who on gods green earth makes a one pound cabbage roll??

Just sayin' Who does that???

Well, with my sisters, it would be the one who didn't really care because they weren't hers and she just wanted to get the cooking done & over with. My family is great. I hope that wasn't the case with yours :)

Probably my Mom's were 1/2 lb. But I'd always eat a bunch of them. they were so good! emoticon emoticon And she'd make big pots of them and encouraged us to eat more. Couldn't discourage Mom, right? Once she offered my a sandwich. I was about 50 years old and always trying to lose weight.I said I wasn't hungry. She cried! Also we had a grocery store (ours) attached to our house with a sort of a tunnel between them. I could have anything I wanted--anytime! There was an oversized candy case with every candy imaginable and always fresh things from a Polish bakery there.

Now that's portion distortion to the max. Who does that you ask? Ummm, let's see, my family. For holidays my sister always has to mash 10 pounds of potatoes and make a gallon of gravy, never mind that there are only about 8 of us that get together for any given holiday. That's just one example off the top of my head. I grew up in a family that loves to eat. It's no wonder that I look like I do. Changing a lifetime of bad eating habits is a struggle but it can be done with a lot of determination, diligence, and dedication.
