Hi y'all! I have miss Spark people greatly! I just thought I would let y'all know where I have been and why you haven't seen me around. If you will recall I had an accident at the middle of February which I was starting think might just not be so bad. Well, fast forward to the end of April an you will find me in the back of ambulance on a back board. Just outside of my classroom door someone had spilled some ice and didn't bother to do anything about it, so guess who found it...ME! I twisted my right ankle, smashed down on my left knee, and then backwards. It was one I was actually thankful for cameras in the school. A hand full of teachers were close by and heard it and then saw me. I couldn't believe it...again, why me? One teacher went to the clinic to get help, one went to the office for help, two stayed with me, and another asked about my personal children not wanting to see me this way. It was about 10 minutes after the students where released, so thankfully no students were around. My personal children were going to the others for the weekend, even though I had a few teachers willingly offer to take care of them as long as needed. It was really sweet to know my co-workers cared. My school nurse have been friends for years (we kids about the same age that are friends, too) so when she arrived she was prepared with ice and the works. Our school officer who sons like to hung with my kids after school was quick to come also. I was completely unable to move so the ambulance was called. Between the school nurse, officer, and head custodian arrangement were put in place for me to get the hospital, my best friend to meet me (hubby out of town with work), and my car to be taken to my home. At the hospital they tortuously took 14 x-rays of my knee, ankle, and back. The doctor came back and stated nothing was broken and give me something for the pain. As I stood to leave, I fell back until to stand. So they wheeled me go and told me to rest and follow-up on Monday with a doctor. My Brother-in-law meet my friend and I at my home to help get into my home. His wife, son, and him came and stay with for the weekend to help me. On Monday I went to the doctor where he confirmed no breakage but it was clear I had muscle, tendon, ligament damage. Per worker's comp proclaim he put me in a air cast for my ankle, a hedged brace for my knee, and crutches and started me on physical therapy . So basically we had to wait a month before any MRI could be done, so I did PT for at least 2 hours 3 days a week and saw the doctor once a week. My restrictions where too much for me to be allowed to work. And I honestly don't think I could have done it anyways. Finally the 30 comes and they order the MRI and weirdly my work says come back, knowing I will have to leave early daily to do my PT or see the doctor...I think it's only 8 more days until schools out. So i get the MRI and it's worst then everyone thought including me. You know it's not good when The call you back to the doctors the day after an MRI...which took almost 4 hours, so thank GOD it was an open MRI and my amazing teenage daughter stayed and talked to me the whole time. The found two fractions in my ankle that the hospital missed, multiply tears in the ankle, tears and separations of the knee cap, and 3 displayed disc causing nerve damage in my back. Since, I am obvisiously unable to do my normal routine, I have gained 13lbs since Feb. which, i think isn't so bad, but it isn't good either. Now, I am in the wait game of what's next. Talk is two or three surgeries and lots of PT. I really appreciate all the support, love and prayers of my spark friends.
I am going to leave you with a Bible verse that helped through all of this.... I Thessalonians 5:18 "in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." Without my faith in Christ, an amazingly supportive husband, kids, family, and the best four girlfriends a person could have I know I would be in a wheelchair feeling helpless. I know my God is carrying me a lot lately and somehow this will work out for the best. Just another stepping step in my life. Y'all stay blessed!!!
