This morning I got a nice 20 mile ride with a friend of mine who, 6 months ago, didn't exercise at all. And now, she just goes and goes. She did the mini-tri with me last month, and she regularly runs and rides now. She's awesome. She is about 30 lbs. lighter than me and I hope to get where she is someday! Maybe by the end of the summer if I really work at it. Or else by the end of the year for my sister's wedding, that would work fine for me too. ;)

Our ride this morning was perfect. Plenty of sunshine, not too hot, and no wind. We had a slight headwind for a couple miles coming back, but nothing like I experienced last weekend. We did about 14 miles together, and it was about 3 miles each way from my house to the park we met up at.

I've been pretty good on food all week, but last night I had a frappe from McD's with my daughter, and that set me back 550 calories!!! I usually have the sugar-free iced coffee when I go there, because it's under 100 calories, but I really wanted something YUMMY. I've been riding a LOT the past week, and I've eaten well this week otherwise, so I'm at peace with my choice. :)

Yesterday I ran 2 miles, instead of riding, because I want to run on my birthday and also, I want to do that half marathon in September with another friend. I took ibuprofen before my run, and I did fine and had no foot pain. I'm going to run again tomorrow. The first run, after you haven't run in awhile, is very hard! It took almost a mile to get in my pace. So my theory is, don't go too long without running in the first place, and it won't be so hard to get back to it! ;) Anyway I'm really proud of myself for doing it.

Today the library reading program starts and while I take my kids there, I also want to stop at the fitness center at my school to pay my dues for the summer. I want to go there and lift weights and swim, but because I don't have any classes, I have to pay extra. So I told Dan I was going to do that with my paycheck from parks & rec. Also, I have a small purchase at the bike shop...the tape is coming off my handlebars and is getting worse. My bike is blue, so I'm not sure what color I'll get. There's black on it now. I'm sure I don't want white or any other light color that will show dirt. It's the mom in me. ;)

    Congrats on getting back to running. I'm still sore from my most recent one, but it was combined with a lot of yard work, so I'm not entirely sure which sore spots are from what. I still haven't run longer than 20 minutes and I'm actually working my way back to that point, but I am trying and that is a biggie for me.

    Keep up the great work! You could always go for some neon colored tape - hot pink, lime green, etc.
