No carbs after lunch?

Hey, I just read an article in Woman's World Magazine explaining Bob Harpers's The Skinny Rules-No carbs after lunch rule. It sounds like an interesting concept, I might give it a shot. It pretty much says eat your carbs for breakfast and lunch, maybe a snack as long as it is all before 1-2 pm or so. Then stick to a high protein & veggie dinner. I could try for a bit but dinners usually contain a serving of brown rice, wheat pasta, sweet potato or even starchy veggies like carrots, peas or corn.

But since I am kind of at a stand still as far as the scale I guess I need to change something up a bit. Has anyone tried this? How did you like it?

    That's a fairly reasonable rule of thumb - however!!

    Your body needs carbs as fuel before a workout, and sugars after a workout to restore. So if you don't get a workout in until 7pm, you need to fuel your body adequately for that.

    A general rule that I use, when I get my exercise in the morning (which I aim for 80% of the time) is to start my day with a higher carb ratio, and end it with a higher protein and fats ratio.

    Thanks for the responses Debbie, I am going to give it a try. I am trying to tweak my cal, carb, prot, fat, fib, etc to find the perfect levels for me. It is not easy. emoticon emoticon

    Hi- Welcome to the ARE YOU READY team -- LOVE Bob's new book!

    I have been working on the no carbs after 2 PM rule ( not 100% yet) but here is my experience...

    I expected since I have equated carbs=energy in my brain that the no carbs after 2 PM rule would leave me dragging...

    Instead I am experienceing just the opposite!

    A high protien..veggie loaded evening meal leaves me feeling more awake and focused than does a heavy carb load!

    As part of his no carbs after 2 PM rule he also discusses 'Harpersizing' the veggies...giving the example of 'yes-you CAN consider a whole head of broccoli one serving'...( without butter or cheese sauce of course...LOL)

    r reading in his book and elsewhere of the benefits of Kale- I have been cooking it once a week....

    I just 'wilt it slightly with onions & garlic..

    Had tilapia and kale for dinner last night and was not even interested in a evening snack because I remained full until bedtime!

    The night before, we had baked chicken and a baked ( sweet) potato and green beans....even after eatting a good dinner I was on the prowl for 'something else' all evening....ended up with some hummus and veggies...but really was not what I (thought) I wanted which was more carbs...

    So I really do think the no carbs after lunch rule may just be a good thing...let me know how it works for you!
