surviving Beryl

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Although it's only May, the rains and winds we got last night made it feel like the hurricane season is already here. I'm not sure if it's a sign of progress or not, but I didn't pig out on snacks like I usually do when I'm nervous. Or maybe I was just too busy wondering if the roof would give way from all the branches falling on it to think about eating. Fortunately, everyone and everything is okay, although my tomato crop, i.e. my five tomato plants, were wiped out. But safey is a blessing and I'm counting each one of them.

I went to the beach Sunday night to look at the wind and waves but the wind was too strong. Just ended up getting wet. My daughter's power was out17 hours and my sister's 7 and their cable was still out this afternoon. But everyone is safe.

Hurricane season is un-nerving isn't it. We are still waiting for it to come to us. Beryl is suppose to hit us today. Just hope it has died down some. Dread damaging winds and flooding.

Makes you truly grateful the plants weren't your family.
