My sister moved in.

On my previous blog I said how my mom has to have someone with her 24/7 now and how my sister was going to move in. Well she gave her notice at her job and said she would stay till the end of June but she was only working from 6-10 a.m. What we chuckle about is that her son's girlfriend was hired to fill her position. So my sister has been training her in the mornings when she goes in.

For the past couple of weeks my sis has been moving boxes over in her car. On Thursday she borrowed the box truck from her work and we loaded it up with the first load of the bigger things to come over. We unloaded Friday, I went in to work from 5-10 a.m. and came home and they were here with the first load. We had to go back for a second load and then we were done. I have a 2 car garage that is now full of her boxes that she has to go through. I have enough room that I can get my lawn mower out and that is about it. My sis had a great idea for taking the boxes and furniture to the basement. We had 2 long boards that a friend uses to load his rotartiller into his truck. We laid them over the basement steps to make a slide and slid the boxes and totes down into the basement. Worked great for the furniture too. No going up and down steps with heavy boxes or furniture. Too bad it didn't work when we had to carry it all up out of my sis's basement!

She set up a bedroom in the basement, looks really cute too. She had some pretty yellow curtaings that we hung from the floor joists at the head of her bed to hide the cinder block wall. We hung some white curtains by the side of the steps so she has some privacy there. She did not want walls put in, the curtains give her privacy and keep it open too. We hung poles for the floor joists and she hangs her clothes there and her dressers are against the short wall. The only thing we need to do is put in a drop ceiling in that area. She doesn't want to be sleeping and have a spider fall on her. My uncle is going to help us do that.

I have my exercise area down in the basement so we took her sofa and love seat and made that a tv area. Will get pics and post once it is all done. Now she just needs to go through her stuff to see what she is keeping and what is going. She is going to have a yard sale on the 7 & 8th of June so she has a lot to go through. It will be nice to get my 2 car garage back and get my basement organized again.

It is fun having her here too. We always got along and we have a lot of the same interests. What is so nice is that mom is not here by herself anymore while I am at work. The peace of mind for me is so nice and mom is happier to. I am so thankful that we were able to do this and I know that my dad is looking down on us and smiling and my sister's husband is right there with him nodding his head. I told my dad before he died that mom would always be taken care of, no matter what. See dad, I kept my promise.
