Doing Better Thanks to My 13-Year-Old

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

My sons are wonderful. I am so blessed to have these boys. My 13-yr-old is in a track club and he is going to the regional championships next weekend to run 3000 meters (almost 2 miles). I am so proud of him! This is his 3rd year in track and he has improved so much. I just love to watch him run and keeping up with his challenges during workouts.

As he runs around the track, I've been walking around the neighborhood. I've racked up 5 miles in 3 days. Not too shabby. Sure my son ran over 4 miles in one practice, but I'm getting there one step at a time.

After practice we went to the grocery store to pick up dinner. We each got a single serving salad kit (280 calories), some blueberries for dessert and protein shakes. I'm saving mine for breakfast. You know something? Eating healthy with another person makes a big difference. As my son put it, "it's like a competition - to see how long we can eat healthy."

Very true. That's a son for you. Competing against his mother to see who can eat healthier. I can't wait to compete against my son in a 2-mile race. Maybe not tomorrow or next week. But some day.
