The Week Is Flying By

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Everything is so lush and green here now. I enjoy my trips to our tiny rural post office everyday. I like to read the neighbors' signs on the way. It seems that many of my neighbors have something to say. Occasionally you will see a house for sale sign. Today I saw signs for fresh eggs, mag wheels, Boer goats, and strawberries. There are the usual signs to "save" something. A couple of neighbors have large political protest signs. I'm always curious about these people.

I always encounter some kind of wildlife on my trips - birds of prey, squirrels, rabbits, turtles, guineas, turkeys, snakes, lots of deer. Even a fox occasionally or a coyote. Cats, dogs, horses, chickens, cows, sheep, and goats. And a pot-bellied pig. There is a rescue farm for blue healers.

I'm one of the few neighbors at home during the day for a half mile or so but today I saw a woman a mile away pruning her trees. My girlfriend's husband is often out mowing his lawn on his John Deere.

Sometimes there are kids outside playing at school. Or road crew workers at the township building. Customers at the bank and post office. The Wagon Wheel Shadow Dance Hall is closed now and for sale.

Yesterday my son worked days. My hubby called from work and needed my help to do some things for him. The lawyer called and the investment counselor. I had to get ready to leave right away. He had to go to Rural King to buy a chain saw and a battery for his boss plus to try get try to get their weed eater fixed. I had to go to the bank for him to take some papers to be copied for the estate. I also took a check to deposit into our account and one for each of his brothers I had to take the lawyer's office. I then had my errands and shopping to do. I went to Tractor Supply and got some bird seed and suet. I went to the post office, newspaper office, Wal-mart, Aldis, and the meat market. I got home in time to fix supper. My hubby helped bring in the groceries and I got them put away.

I'm still trying to do some decluttering every day.

Blocker is not feeling well and I called the vet and left a message. She is not eating as well as usual and I don't want to let it go too long.

Today my son was off work and we did 4 loads of laundry. I unloaded the dishwasher and had it packed again by the end of the day.

It still is nice but getting warmer.

I started getting my flower together to decorate the graves with. It will be miserably hot when we do it.

My son went to taekwondo.

The investment counselor called again about the estate. There is always some irritating problem that isn't easy to fix.

The vet called and we are making arrangements to get Blocker taken care of.

Busy, busy, busy! No wonder the week flies by. I hope Blocker gets his appetite back. We have a 13 year old cat that is currently not eating. She suffers from chronic constipation despite special food and medicine. When she gets backed up, she starts to throw up. The last vet visit was over $1000 and required sedation after several failed enemas. We decided that we can't pay for any more vet trips and so far, she keeps bouncing back. She is such a pal to my son.

    Have a great day!

I have never had anything to do on Memorial day. I used to tend the grave of a 13 day old baby but that was a long time ago.
Now i have my garden that I am putting together. it is not well established but I plan to take pictures and post them on Memorial day. HUGS and more hugs. Hope BLOCKER responds well. Pat in Maine.

Every time I read one of your reports of your day, it makes me feel like such a slacker! Honestly, you accomplish more in one day than I do in three, and I'll bet I'm not alone in that.

It is fun to "spy" on the neighborhood, isn't it? I used to love it when I lived in a town with sidewalks - especially the hour right before supper when people would have their inside lights turned on but hadn't closed the draperies yet, so I could peek inside on my way past. Such a snoop! LOL

It felt like I was right there with you, walking to the post office! I love seeing wildlife, I do get to see some, even here in the city. I have a fox, a couple of racoons, definitely a skunk! and some feral cats around here. I would love to live in the country, it's something I think about when it comes time to retire. A little over a year to go now! Glad that you are feeling better! How is the MRSA going?

I'm thinking about flowers for the cemetery, too. About all I have are roses, sweet williams and pansies. I've got to get more spring blooming flowers in. It's pretty good considering last year, we had nothing. Between cold weather and nothing planted, we bought all the flowers for the graves.

You had a busy day. It's a lot to do with all the stops you make.
