Day 9 of 30: Garden bliss
Wednesday, May 23, 2012
My girlfriend and I found the best little spot by the garage that is going to make the perfect little garden. We are so excited! We worked for awhile in the evening digging it all up (it must have been some sort of flower bed at one point). Her son even got into the digging (he kind of took over). So, we all took turns with the shovel! We found seashells, glass, plastic, an old glove, and assorted dog bones on our dig. This Fri/Sat we will be picking up plants and getting them in. We are thinking tomatos, onions, cucumbers, and snap peas...trying to start little and see how it goes this year. Sometimes I get carried away and go to big, then get frustrated. We also planted two cherry tomato plants out front, begonia, marigolds, pansies, and dyanthium. They look so pretty...still have the planters on the porch to do. We were getting our boss a retirement present at the greenhouse and we got the cutest idea! They were selling old sap buckets for 5 dollars each...they would make the cutest little planters for on the porch. We also found a cool idea in a magazine for a planter out of a wooden pallet-you plant the pallet while it is laying flat and let the roots attach then stand it upright. I think we are going to try it. Ahh! So many lovely spring projects! I will posts pics soon!
