I Reached Level 6 Silver Medal

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

Today I went over 2,500 points and got to Level 6 which is a silver medal, the previous level is a bronze medal. I did 60 minutes of walking as usual and ate salmon for dinner in the form of a salmon burger (lots of Omega-3 fat.)

Today I decided to quit eating pizza. Last week I ate pizza in the form of a thin crust pizza, not a stuffed crust pizza and I didn't really like it. Now I have decided since healthy pizza doesn't taste so great, to give up pizza. What I'll add instead to my weekly diet is more salmon, some from cans.

I'm still typing in my daily grocery totals and my prices for each item into a database flat file in Oasis and now the per item price has gone down to $2.50 an item. I've been logging my grocery information for about a week. Also I type in my daily diet into SparkPeople and I log my exercise each day.

Today for the first time I used the Map My Route facility in the Fitness Tracker. You trace the outline of a route and it measures the distance for you and when you do the route, you can type in the time you took and it calculates your calories burned automatically. Way cool! I found out about this from reading a blog post.

The book I am reading right now is UltraMetabolism by Mark Hyman. It's the best of the books I got recently from the library. It recommends whole grains, not whole grain products with flour in them and says if bread is squishy, it's not worth eating. All the bread I buy is squishy so I'm buying poor quality bread even when I buy whole wheat bread.

I ate my salmon burger with just half a bun so I could eat some fruit and veggies with the burger. You really have to reduce the use of flour-made products similar to bread on the Zone diet so you can eat your fruits and vegetables and not go over in carbs.
