Antibiotics for prevention.

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

First my daughter called me & told me the bad news. My grandson has whopping cough.
My grandson has had his shots. So how could he get the whopping cough?

Then I get a phone call from the health department to inform me that I was around someone who has whopping cough. The health department wanted me to go on antibiotics for prevention.

So I called my doctor and ask her about taking antibiotics. She said the policy is if you are around someone more than one hour then you should go on antibiotics for prevention. I was around my grandson on Mother's day along with my Mom.

I am taking antibiotics since yesterday along with my mom, my daughter’s family, my grandson’s fathers family, two kids my daughter baby sits for. Everyone in his class will be getting a letter to inform them of the disease. The list can go on...

I am happy to know that taking antibiotics can help prevent getting whopping cough.

Stay healthy!
