Tracking sugary foods

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

I don´t eat that much chocolate or candy - but it happens. I have a very hard time to track this since I have no idea what all those "bars" listed in the nutrtion register of Sparks are - and the swedish candy is not nutrition declared so I can´t register it.

I sort of guess - I have those swedish registers online for chocolates or bonbons and I can compare them to something registered on spark people and then pick something that seems to be about the same.

Today I was registering a new breakfast group, ryebread with hummus. And then I thought that registering chocolate or candy in my own groups would sort of hint that I would eat it on a regular basis. Which I hopefully will not - have not done it so far so why should I start now when I am trying to get more healthier?

So, I will continue to guess on the nutrition of the sweets I am eating - and have the goal that the problem will not occur often...

That's interesting that Sweden, and maybe the rest of the world, does not use nutrition labels on foods. It sure would make it harder to figure out how many calories you're eating when you have to guess. I have trigger foods saved in my favorites cause it sure makes it easier to track them when I slip. Occasionally I do not overeat them, just have the correct portion.

Interesting, , when they import chocolate from other countries, they have to put the nutrition lable on it. But I agree, it isn't too oftern, estimating is the way to go....

Even your best guess, backed by a little research, should do it for you Meddy. The enemy is MINDLESS eating. I estimate on a lot of my foods today, after counting calories for years I figure I'm close enough. I also round up to the next 50 to keep me inbounds. Works for me. You are finding what works for you. WTG!
