Something positive about me today

Monday, May 21, 2012

So, today I chose to mention something I did rather than some of my features:

We did a BBQ today and I wanted to grill Halloumi (I recently turned vegetarian and didn't want fish or meat). Well, I went shopping and checked the Nutrition info first (yay me) and saw that the Halloumi had 200g which resulted in over 50g fat *gulps*.

The positive thing is that I didn't buy it, I instead chose grilled vegetables and a meatless filet (which turned out to be horrible, but never mind) with only 14g fat for 200g.

I like that I did NOT buy the cheese and did NOT give up, but instead chose something healthier. I ended up eating bread, grilled veggies, half a meatless filet, potato salad and tossed salad.

Yes, I am happy with my choices!

Just use firm or extra firm tofu. Slice it into 3 or 4 rectangles, and put it between two towels or a ton of paper towels. Put it under a cookie sheet & put a heavy pot or something on top & leave it for about 30-45min. Then cook. I cook mine directly in the bbq but you can also let it crisp up a bit first & then cook it with the bbq a few minutes. Add coleslaw and enjoy!!! Its really good and super fast!!

Ohhh that sounds great, I will have to try that, never worked with tofu before, though. Really new to the veggie path.

Congrats!!! That's a great accomplishment!! If you're doing the veggie thing, may I reccomend bbq tofu burgers? Quite tasty with coleslaw!!
