17 Day Diet
Cycle 2: Activate, Day 2
32 days from now, we're in the air, heading to the Mexican Rivera. Me, the fam, my brother and his wife and my parents. This will be our third family vacation and each has been more wonderful than the last. The place looks incredible. We've even convinced my mom to try sushi. There's a wonderful kids club for my 9-year-old. The only concern I have is whether my 17-year-old son will have enough to keep him busy. Maybe he'll learn to relax on the beach instead of going at 100 MPH all the time.
My mom, SIL and I have all been dieting for, well, forever, I guess. My mom was up to a size 16 at one point, but she just hit a size 8 and decided to get rid of all her old fat clothes.
I'm down to a 14, and sometimes a 12. My brother's wife is a solid 12, so we spent Saturday shopping - in Mom's closets.
My parents' house has 5 bedrooms. The closets in four of them were jammed from one end to the other with my mom's clothes. I seriously think she could go more than a year without wearing the same outfit twice. Lisa and I each walked out with an entire summer wardrobe:
shorts, skirts, tops, capris. Everything but the shoes. She had some to give away, but her shoes are two sizes too big for me.
I was grateful for all the giveaways. Especially since I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on in-between clothes while I lose weight. I even took a few things that Lisa didn't want in a smaller size for my downward weight journey.
It was fun and inspirational. Seeing how good they both look motivated me to be faithful to my diet and exercise plan. I'm not going to be the fat lady on our family vacation.
It was a good weekend.
This morning, I started off with my lemon water and yogurt, then followed up with an orange and my breakfast green tea. (I know, breakfast was supposed to be 1/2 grapefruit but the ones in the store yesterday looked nasty. Still didn't require a lot of thought or planning on my part to substitute an orange.)
Lunch is leftover chicken breast, broccoli and a salad.
Dinner will be at Panera tonight with my writing group. I love their salads. Hopefully, I'll get the chapter 12 and 13 rewrites done tonight.
It's shaping up to be a pretty decent week.
