Walk Across America, Week 4 Report
Monday, May 21, 2012
This week I totaled 35.89 miles - less than last week, but still respectable considering the my continuing limited exercise capabilities. I even got in 14,144 steps on Sunday, which is my 2nd-highest day so far (the first high day was when I was over-doing it!)
A bright spot in the week was Saturday evening's walk with my husband. We walked for a FULL hour, at what felt like a normal pace, and I had NO back pain the entire time. I wonder if walking on the dirt path instead of the asphalt for most of the walk had something to do with that? We switched to the asphalt for a little bit, and it really did feel less forgiving.

On the weight side, I gained 2.2 this week, due to ONE binge-y day on Saturday. I really stuffed myself with treats, and frankly, it didn't feel good (though the treats were tasty:)). My calorie averagel for my 6 on-plan days was 1431, and I can only guess that I went well over 2000 on Saturday, as I didn't track.
And, this morning on the treadmill, I was able to start at 1.7 mph instead of 1.6, and did a full 15 minutes at 2.0. So, I'm making progress, albeit slowly. This whole business is really a lesson in patience for me.
